The trip home
March 16 2008I know it happened over a week ago, but let me recollect. Remember, I had some interesting experiences getting to Houston for the Leaders Conference. Hopefully I learned something about perseverance. On the way home I experienced a blessing from God - Again, in an unusual circumstance. The conference was over at noon on Saturday but my flight didn't leave until 6 pm. Yes, I did think about the idea that if I drove home, I would actually arrive before my plane took off. So I checked the web site one more time and realized that Southwest had a 4:30 flight too. So I called to see if I could just get on that flight. Not a chance, unless I wanted to pay an extra $70. I am too cheap for that. So, find a restaurant and eventually get to the airport. When I arrived at 4 pm, I noticed that my 6 pm flight had been delayed to 7 pm. (Not again!!) So, I stood in line and finally made it to the ticket desk to ask one more time. May I move to the 4:30 flight?? Please!! "Sure, no problem - you can go as stand by." Out to the gate quickly as the last travelers were boarding the plane. Now I needed my boarding pass. It was handed to me with this comment, "Normally we would charge you $70 for this but since your flight was delayed. No charge." Great and thank you, pal. But, I was really saying Great and Thank You, Lord for that blessing and provision. Home by 5:30 was looking much better than home at 8 PM. That was my trip home wrapped in God's blessing. What is the Lord teaching you or showing you in your circumstances?
