First Christian Church provides resources for adults to mature in Christ and find opportunities for ministry and service. This includes ministries for Men, Women and Senior citizens. We invite you to join us on our Christian Journey.

Men's Ministry
The Men’s ministry plans periodic activities for all men at First Christian Church. We have a monthly Men and Boy's breakfast at 8 a.m. on a Saturday morning at the Youth Center. We enjoy great food, testimonies and Christian fellowship with each other and often watch a devotional video, as well. Check our Calendar to make sure there is one scheduled this month.
The Men’s Ministry also plans a golf outing at Tony Butler Golf Course one Saturday afternoon a month when it is not too hot. If you are interested please Contact Us so we have enough tee times. Again, check the calendar to sign up for our next outing.
We also offer some discipleship study groups and accountability groups. Contact Us if you are interested in joining a small group.
Young Adult Ministry
We offer a new Young Adult/Career Group at 1st Christian Church. Young adults, single and married, come to fellowship and grow in their walk with God. The age group is approximately from 21 to 35.
This ministry includes:
- Sunday School at 9:45 am in room 6. We tend to arrive between 9:30 - 9:45 to eat & fellowship 1st.
- Monthly fellowship nights which draw young adults from all over Harlingen, McAllen, Brownsville, and Raymondville. We have had parties with dinner & games and a build your own gourmet pizza night (we share).
- We will be offering special topical studies during the week. In January 2011, we will be offering David Ramsey's Financial Freedom as a weekly class series on Saturday nights.
- We are planning a Fall Retreat & Christmas Party.
- We are also planning to reach out to the community by joining other ministries and providing our support.

Women’s Ministry
The Women’s Ministry is a Christian group dedicated to the spiritual growth, enrichment and education of the women at First Christian Church. Through Christian fellowship and creative ministry, the Women’s Ministry extends a welcome to every woman of First Christian Church, enabling them to contribute to our Mission.
Our Mission includes many outreach and local projects, such as Loaves and Fishes, American Bible Society and End of the Road Ministry. Together, we also visit and bring gifts to shut-ins at homes and nursing homes, and provide birthday parties at local rest homes.
The Women’s Ministries also holds several Bible studies and Prayer group meetings each month at homes or at the church. We offer both morning and evening groups to try and accommodate all our members. Other special programs include book reviews, craft days, retreats, teas, pilgrimages and Saturday Ladies Specials. Every woman is always welcome, we invite you to join us today!
Discovery Class
The Discovery Class goes beyond traditional Sunday School classes for adults with an interactive, discussion class. We offer a choice of classes to best meet your needs, encourage you in your walk, inspire a closer relationship with our Lord, and develop relationships with others. We invite you to grab a cup of coffee and a donut (or two) and join us at 9:45 AM each Sunday morning. All are welcome to discuss current, relevant and interesting topics that focus on bringing us closer to God.
Senior Saints
First Christian Church Senior Citizens are not forgotten as we plan activities for them, as well. Each Wednesday at 4:00 pm we meet in the fellowship hall for a Bible Study and Prayer time. Also, once a month we add a supper to our evening which allows for great fellowship time and meetings.
More Fun…
We also offer a Lady’s Bible Study group with the Pastor on the first Thursday of the Month at 10 am. Then after studying the Bible we usually go out to lunch.
First Christian Church loves outings! We often plan trips or outings, load up the Church Bus and go! Let us know where you’d like to go and we can see about putting together a trip.
